Abstrak

Background: National exclusive breastfeeding coverage (69.26%) remains below the 80% target, and in the working area of Kalianda Health Center, South Lampung Regency, coverage declined from 77.6% (2023) to 68.8% (2024). Maternal self-efficacy and social support are considered important determinants of exclusive breastfeeding success. Method: This quantitative analytic study used a cross-sectional design. Seventy mothers with infants aged 6–12 months were selected from a population of 232 mothers using proportional random sampling (Slovin formula). Data were collected using the BSES-SF questionnaire, a social support questionnaire, and a breastfeeding history questionnaire, then analyzed univariately and bivariately (Chi-Square/Fisher's Exact test, α = 0.05). Result: Most mothers had moderate self-efficacy (38.6%), poor social support (64.3%), and 62.9% had not succeeded in exclusive breastfeeding. Self-efficacy (p = 0.026) and social support (p = 0.030; OR = 3.500) were significantly associated with exclusive breastfeeding success. Conclusion: Self-efficacy and social support were significantly associated with exclusive breastfeeding success; mothers with poor social support had a 3.5-fold higher risk of failing to exclusively breastfeed.
