PENERAPAN TEKNIK SLOW DEEP BREATHING UNTUK MENGURANGI KECEMASAN PADA AKSEPTOR KB IUD

Abstract

IUD is a type of long-term contraception that has high effectiveness and low cost. Although it has many advantages, the coverage of IUD acceptor users is still not optimal. Many obstacles cause women of childbearing age to be reluctant to use this method, one of which is the level of anxiety. One method to reduce anxiety in IUD KB acceptors is the Slow Deep Breathing technique. This scientific paper applies continuous midwifery care starting from the second trimester of pregnancy to family planning services, with a focus on the application of Evidence Based Practice (EBP) in the form of the application of the Slow Deep Breathing Technique to Reduce Anxiety in IUD KB Acceptors. This care was carried out at the Independent Practice of Midwife Hj. Zurrahmi Pekanbaru City from January to May 2025. The success indicator was measured using an anxiety questionnaire used, the HARS questionnaire or Hamilton Anxiety Rating Scale before and after the intervention. Descriptive data analysis was used to describe the results of the intervention implementation. The results of continuous midwifery care for Mrs. W (32 years old, P3A0H3) showed that the entire care process went well without complications. Before the Slow Deep Breathing technique intervention, Mrs. W's anxiety scale was at a score of 21. After the Slow Deep Breathing technique was performed, the anxiety level decreased to a score of 14. Thus, the Slow Deep Breathing technique has been proven effective in reducing anxiety in IUD users. Health workers are advised to apply this technique as an alternative anxiety management for IUD users.
